    When fall rolls around, it is time for apple season. And I look excitedly for the appearance of Macintosh apples in my local supermarket. They are absolutely my favorite apple for baking. I guess that is because I grew up in Michigan and Macintosh apples are the quintessential Michigan apple. Of course, they were my mom’s favorite apples as well.     Have you ever had baked apples? This recipe really brings me back to childhood. My mother absolutely loved to make these during the cold fall and winter nights as dessert. Growing up in Michigan, she always used Macintosh apples with are plentiful there. While other apples may taste good, there is nothing like a Macintosh baked apple!
