And so it’s always great to have some easy appetizer ideas for your next football-watching party. These baked buffalo cauliflower bites are the perfect addition to your game-day menu!
Benefits of baked buffalo cauliflower bites
I’m going to make a confession to you. I’m not a fan of chicken wings. There, I said it! While they may taste great, I don’t like to deal with the bones. And yet since I do like the taste, I wanted to come up with an appetizer that included buffalo sauce. With these buffalo cauliflower bites, I don’t have to worry about the bones!
This recipe is also lower in calories and fat than buffalo wings. It’s a great option for vegan or vegetarian guests. And it’s perfect for those who are trying to eat a more plant-based diet.
This recipe is high in fiber and rich in essential nutrients such as vitamins C, K, and B6. It’s also full of antioxidants! These baked buffalo cauliflower bites are easier to prepare than wings, you get much of the same great taste, and you don’t have to deal with the bones which makes them easier to eat!
Baked Buffalo Cauliflower Bites
Ingredients
- 1 medium cauliflower cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup flour substitute almond flour for gluten-free
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3/4 cup buffalo sauce
- 1 tbsp butter melted (or substitute olive oil for dairy-free)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. The batter should be thick and smooth. You can add a little more water if the batter is too thick.
- Add the cauliflower florets to the batter mixture. Make sure each piece of cauliflower is well coated. Shake off any excess.
- Place batter-coated cauliflower on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cauliflower is crispy.
- While the cauliflower is baking in a small bowl mix the buffalo sauce and butter (or olive oil).
- Once the cauliflower is finished baking, remove it from the oven. Put cauliflower in a large mixing bowl. Top with the buffalo sauce mixture, making sure each piece of cauliflower is well coated.
- Return the buffalo sauce-coated cauliflower to the baking sheet.
- Bake for an additional 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven.
- Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.
